Special / Themed Issues

Advances in Nineteenth-Century Research, the journal of the International-Nineteenth Century Studies Association

Advances in Nineteenth-Century Research is the journal of the International Nineteenth-Century Studies Association (INCSA), published three times a year by Taylor & Francis. It embraces a broad interdisciplinary remit, including the humanities, social sciences, arts, and sciences.

The journal publishes research articles, discussion forums, pedagogy practicums, and reviews of books, exhibitions, digital media, and more.

The journal responds to key challenges in nineteenth‑century studies:

  • Encouraging international perspectives that transcend the Anglosphere
  • Fostering interdisciplinary work across disciplines and with practice‑based fields
(e.g., museology, librarianship, education, media, the arts)
  • Exploring the intertemporal conceptions of the nineteenth century (e.g., legacies,
    afterlives, etc.)

Purpose of Special / Themed Issues
Special issues of Advances in NineteenthCentury Research are intended to:

  • Illuminate emerging or underrepresented terrains within nineteenthcentury
    scholarship
  • Bring together scholars from different regions, disciplines, and methodological
    approaches
  • Engage with how nineteenth-century phenomena continue to resonate in
    contemporary contexts
